With the Volkswagen Golf blue-e-motion Concept – the purely electrically powered version of the most successful European car ever built – Volkswagen is forging new ties to the era of electric mobility. 2010 Volkswagen Golf blue-e-motion Concept the five-door and five-seat version of the concept car is silently driven by an electric motor integrated in the front engine compartment with a maximum power of 85 kW / 115 PS and a continuous power output of 50 kW / 69 PS.

Often like all electric motors, the one in the VW Golf also delivers a very high maximum torque from a stop (270 Newton-metres). And the result: more fun in zero-emissions driving. The electricity for powering the electric motor is stored in a lithium-ion battery with an energy capacity of 26.5 kilowatt-hours.

Today, using a lithium-ion battery, driving ranges of up to 150 kilometres can be realised in the front-wheel drive VW Golf blue-e-motion; the specific range depends on driving style and other factors (such as use of the air conditioning and heating system).

Heading into 2010, Volkswagen of America is killing off the Rabbit name for the second time in the hatch’s history. The MkI was originally dubbed the Rabbit in North America because the corporate mothership felt U.S. buyers wouldn’t understand the European “Golf” moniker. By the time the MkII arrived, VW switched over to the global nameplate at the time it was 2010 Volkswagen Golf, only to reverse course with the last generation MkV, reviving the cuddly name in an attempt to rekindle nostalgia and spur flagging sales.

The MkVI isn’t quite an “all-new” vehicle – it’s more of a MkV.5, and more retaining the last generation’s platform and at least half (two-thirds if you include the GTI) of the powertrain lineup. The most obvious revisions are on the outside, with none of the previous generation’s bodywork carrying over to the MkVI. We’re good with that, and Walter de Silva, Volkswagen Group’s head of design, is understandably proud of his latest creation.

The resulting redesign has created one of the most attractive Golfs in the automaker’s history, with the front fascia adopting a more subdued, Scirocco-inspired grille and headlamps, while the tail lights and rear bumper have been reworked to reflect VW’s new softened aesthetic, conjuring up a bit of the MkI in the process.

The side profile of the CrossPolo also shows very tough qualities. Here sporty black wheelarch extensions and coordinated body sills set the styling and this is one of the specifications contained in the 2010 Volkswagen CrossPolo. The latter continue visually into the lower door area. In off-road driving and in the jungle of metropolitan parking spaces, these rugged plastic guards protect the car from damage. Fitting the character of the CrossPolo are the 17-inch alloy wheels (‘Budapest’ style) in 5-spoke design wîth size 215/40 tyres.

Beside that also, another unmistakable characteristic of the CrossPolo among other things: the silver anodized roof rails. Across the board, the upper areas of the bumpers and handles (door, tailgate) are painted in body colour, while the cover trim of the B and C pillars and the window frames are treated in a high-gloss black.

The refiner produces these parts in the usual OEM-quality made of high-quality ABS (Acrylonitrile butadiene styrene). The CNC-milled material ensures a low weight, perfect fitting accuracy and at the same time, the highest material stability.

On this occasion the muffler comes with an EU-operating license. The lowering springs (299 euros) which were especially designed for the VW Scirocco, lower the car by 30 millimetres and are combined with serial shock absorbers. In order to fill the wheelhouses adequately, JE DESIGN offers the elegant wheel design Multispoke as a complete wheel set. The wheels are available in the size 8×19 inches in shadow silver (2,810 euros), or graphite matt / with polished edges (2,930 euros), both with 235/35 R 19 tyres.

Volkswagen new belonging to categories ABT Sportsline currently of course also offers performance improvements for the Polo inclusions 2010 Abt Volkswagen Polo. They can give an extra kick to all turbo engines: The 1.6 TDI is available in different output levels – starting at the series standard engine. For example with ABT POWER, 75 HP (55 kW) is converted into 90 HP (66 kW), and after ABT treatment the 90 HP engine provides 110 HP (81 kW) and the 105 HP (77 kW) diesel engine is increased to a sporty 130 HP (96 kW).

In addition there are also the extremely economical 1.2 TSI also provides 130 HP or 96 kW (series standard: 105 HP / 77 kW).
