ArmorTech – ARMG Coupe

The new coupe based on the four-wheel-drive BMW X6 is an ultimate 2-door vehicle with distinctive exterior lines of the popular German sport cross-over. No doubt that X6 is one of the most perfect 4×4 cars with a sport character.

Therefore there will be no changes to technical and dynamic characteristics of the car to be converted. All original X6’s mechanicals will be kept unchanged in the new coupe as well as the wheel base.

The new coupe’s exterior has the same proportions and shape as the BMW X6.

In the body construction principal changes were made to the B-pillars: they were moved back at 250mm. The doors have been also extended respectively to the certain length. The distinctive part of the side windows at the back was moved forward at 200mm. In connection to these changes upper line of the windows changed its curvature and became steeper at the back. The rear side panels with fenders are entirely new. Side windows area is fully covered with glass with no facings at the door pillars. The Atom V8 is here! After three years of development the latest version of the iconic Ariel Atom is released. Offering a power to weight ratio previously only found in single seat race cars the Atom V8 brings unparalleled levels of performance to the driver who wants the ultimate trackday car.

To be built in a Limited Edition of just 25 cars the Atom V8 builds on the success of the normally aspirated and supercharged Honda engined cars, which continue in production alongside the V8. Every car and engine will be individually numbered and the Atom V8 will be built to suit individual customer requirements as regards specific use, whether road, track or race. ARIEL ATOM MUGEN

First photos and specification of the new Ariel Atom Mugen are released today with the car being
unveiled at the British Autosport Show 2011.

History

A collaboration between Ariel and Mugen, the latest version of the original ‘no screen, no roof, no
doors’ Atom celebrates 10 years of production and 1000 Atoms manufactured. Made in a Limited
Edition of just 10 cars for each of the 10 years, each signed and numbered, the Atom Mugen has a
special livery of red chassis, white bodywork and red graphics showing the number of the car to
reflect the unique union of Ariel, Mugen and Honda. Featuring a tuned Mugen Honda engine and a
high level specification, plus the opportunity to further option the car, this latest Atom gives further
choice to the driver looking for the ultimate, normally aspirated trackday car.

Mugen (meaning unlimited in Japanese) engines have famously powered hundreds of race and
championship winners, including Formula 1, since 1973 when Hirotoshi Honda, son of Soichiro Honda, founded the company. Basing their work almost exclusively around Honda powerplants, Mugen was an obvious partner for Ariel who have used the Honda Type R engine in the Atom for over 7 years. Working closely together on the project Ariel and Mugen found many similarities in their approach to the project, resulting in a hand built engine in a truly handbuilt car. Via

Power Treatment for the Lifestyle Estate: The new BMW 5-series Touring with the “AC Schnitzer Effect”
